Simon Fish – Drums. Percussion (and anything else that bangs).

If it weren’t for the sad and untimely passing of Jeffrey Lee Pierce- lead singer and main creative force behind the Blondie inspired, swampy-punk blues band, The Gun Club, The Shrinks may never have experienced Simon’s skin-tight technique and energetic visual stage presence that has become such a highlight of their live shows.

Before The Gun Club, Simon kept time with several bands including Circus Circus, Baby Go Boom and even a short fill-in slot alongside brother Tim in Les Gray’s Mud.

Anyone who has ever found themselves in the audience at a Shrinks gig where Simon is in the line-up, is almost certain to mention the fact that the drummer is rarely seen with any drums. Due in part to restricted performance space and personal transport, but also because of the unrestricted racket of real skins in comparison to mandolins and the like, Simon developed a special Shrink kit that mostly consists of kitchen utensils, biscuit tins, bar stools, plastic buckets and anything else that makes an interesting (but not too loud) percussive sound, all held together with yards of silver duct tape.

As Simon always says, “it’s not the equipment, it’s what you do with it that counts.”
